WWB GLOBAL TEAM
Women's World Banking helps microfinance institutions (MFIs) to grow, function more effectively and serve their clients better. To do this, WWB provides support, training, advice, and information to our global network of 28 MFIs that offer credit and other financial services to low-income people — primarily women — in 19 countries. WWB's work is a partnership between our network of MFIs, our Global Team and our end-users: millions of poor women entrepreneurs.
The WWB Global Team, based in New York City, works hand-in-hand with network members — WWB Affiliates and Associates — to help them develop business strategies, strengthen their organizations, expand their customer bases and deliver innovative products and services that meet the needs of low-income clients. The wide array of carefully targeted, professional services that WWB provides to strengthen its member organizations is unique in the microfinance industry. Also unique are the personal relationships and guidance that WWB offers to small, grassroots organizations and women's groups as they grow in size, and as some become fully-fledged banks. WWB Network member organizations are held to a high standard of performance, encouraging them to excel, to grow and to embrace innovation.
WWB's Global Team, representing more than 20 nationalities, is headed by our President and the WWB Management Team, and governed by the Board of Trustees — all recognized leaders and experts in banking, finance, business, law, community organizing or women's economic participation.
Within the Global Team — working directly with our worldwide network of MFIs — are seven program teams. The WWB Global Team also includes the Development Team and the Finance and Administration Team.
In addition, experts from several WWB teams work on policy and industry impact initiatives, ensuring that the experiences of WWB Network members are reflected in microfinance-friendly policies throughout the banking industry.
