Sri Mulyani Indrawati

H.E. Sri Mulyani Indrawati earned her bachelor degree in Economics major from the Universitas Indonesia, before continuing her studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, earning a M.S. in Policy Economics and a Ph.D. in Economics.

After a highly successful career in economics and banking, H.E. Sri Mulyani Indrawati was chosen to be the Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund, representing the 12 countries in the Southeast Asia group, in 2002. In 2005, H.E. Sri Mulyani Indrawati was appointed the Minister of Finance for Indonesia, and her impressive leadership lead to the stabilization of Indonesia’s economy, the maintenance of prudent fiscal policy, decreases in the cost of loans and effective management of debt, and creating trust among investors.

The Minister’s far-ranging, effective reforms have earned her international renown. In 2006, H.E. Sri Mulyani Indrawati was recognized as the “Best Minister of Finance in Asia” at the World Bank/IMF Annual Meetings in Singapore. She was elected as the 23rd most influential woman in the world by Forbes Magazine in 2008, and the 2nd most influential women in Indonesia by the Globe Asia magazine in 2007. The Minister was also awarded the “Best Minister of Finance” award for 2006 from Euromoney magazine, and the “Best Minister of Finance in Asia” award by the Emerging Market Forum that same year.

In 2008, H.E. Sri Mulyani Indrawati served as the Acting Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, before being appointed as the Executive Director of the World Bank in 2010.

In 2016, President Joko Widodo inaugurated Sri Mulyani Indrawati as the Minister of Finance in his Working Cabinet. On February 11th, 2018, the World Government Summit has announced her as the best minister in the world.
