Roles and Responsibilities

Women's World Banking and UNCDF are leading a multi-wave advocacy program centered on a Women’s Digital Financial Inclusion (WDFI) Advocacy Hub, which is an engine to catalyze collective action to increase women’s digital financial inclusion. The Hub has a global coalition, comprised of global and regional members, and local coalitions in two emerging markets (Ethiopia and Indonesia). Currently, this grant runs until February 2024, with the intent to renew and expand the grant. The vision is to expand the local coalition to multiple countries starting in 2024, once we have a good proof of concept for building, supporting and running local coalitions.

The overall program, implemented at global, regional, and country levels, aims to:

  • Influence governments, private sector, and civil society to accelerate the accessibility and use of digital financial services by women and develop an ecosystem to achieve the financial security, prosperity and economic empowerment of women
  • Build local advocacy capacity and support organizations / key stakeholders in priority countries to advance women’s digital financial inclusion (WDFI).

The role of the WDFI Hub is specifically to achieve the following objectives:

  • Women's digital financial inclusion remains high on global and regional development agendas
  • Coalitions of local stakeholders in identified markets drive change in policy and practice for women's digital financial inclusion
  • Policies and practices to advance women's digital financial inclusion are adopted by policymakers

You should apply to this position if:

You have extensive experience in coalition/partner building and management, with a track record of working in Women’s Digital Financial Inclusion. You have experience partnering with Strategic Communications and Policy professionals to drive a global agenda, seeking always to learn and understand our ecosystem to create value for coalition members and partners, including in-market partners and teams to enhance their advocacy efforts.  You will also be globally aware, having operated in, or with, emerging markets in a previous role.  Finally, you have strong team orientation, capable of working independently but always collaboratively. This will be a remote position partnering with colleagues across time zones in Africa and Asia.

This role is ideal for someone who is a natural relationship builder and custodian, is familiar with organizations within the financial inclusion space, and has a background in financial services, policy and communications.

The Campaign and Coalition Manager will work closely with the Director of the WDFI Advocacy Hub and the Program Manager of the Hub.

Responsibilities:

  • Create sustained strategic communications campaigns that help maintain WDFI high on the public policymaking agenda, and which garner action commitments from advocates and policymakers
  • Support campaign activity and related events / advocacy moments, such as Commission on the Status of Women, International Women’s Day, Making Finance Work for Women Summit, United Nations General Assembly
  • Manage relationship with PR firm that supports our campaigns and advocacy work
  • Drive coalition partner recruitment, which includes identifying, vetting and onboarding new members
  • Drive coalition partner engagement including
    • Evolving our engagement model
    • Identifying needs and developing solutions (i.e, connecting members with similar interests, organizing a capacity building workshop)
    • Supporting coalition members attending or speaking at events
    • Developing social media toolkits (in partnership with PR firm) to support a unified coalition voice
    • Creating compelling content and messaging on important issues for use by coalition members
  • Create best practice sharing opportunities between coalition members.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years of stakeholder relationship management, network or coalition management, content production, and strategic communications
  • Background in financial services, advocacy and communications
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with proven abilities in conflict resolution, interpreting ambiguity and navigating competing objectives.
  • A strong client focus and relationship aptitude, that puts the client at the center of all they do
  • A track record of working with senior leaders
  • A proven ability to assess structures, suppliers and processes critically in order to continuously improve them
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams
  • Experience collaborating with and integrating global, multicultural teams, both internal and external
  • Excellent editor with great attention to detail
  • Strong project management skills
  • Understanding of communications, advocacy and policy to drive global influence
  • Ability to bring new creative ideas to communicate our work
  • Strong problem solving skills – a track record of working in a complex organization with multiple stakeholders is important

Measure of Success

Within 30 days

  • Understand the coalition, M&E framework and our targets.
  • Build a working relationship with key partners, PR agency and funders.
  • Understand the calls to action and how coalition members align to it.

Within 60 days

  • Have a strong understanding of the coalition and high engagement with coalition members.
  • Fully leading campaigns.
  • Drafted coalition engagement model in partnership with the Director.
