Position Summary

Women’s World Banking is seeking to hire a consultant to project manage the designing, testing & validating alternate credit scoring models for SHG women in Telengana. The role of the project manager will include supporting SRLM to digitize higher quality data on a campaign basis, collaborating with bank & WWB & expert data science teams to design and alternative credit score based on this data, piloting the same to capture insights & sharing feedback for data, process & model improvements.

We are therefore looking for an experienced consultant with expertise in credit scoring,  project management, stakeholder management, and solution design. S/He will support the design & implementation of initiatives in collaboration with our SRLM, Financial Service Partners & Data Science Teams. The candidate will be expected to understand lending operations and credit underwriting logic for loan assessments.  S/He should also be able to speak & understand Telugu, Hindi & English to engage with all stakeholders.

Roles and Responsibilities

Scope of Work:

The consultant will be hired as project manager for a 12-month period; within which the scope of work will include :

  1. Working with SRLM stakeholders to:
    1. Assess current SHG Data availability & data processes, coordinate for data access and transfers while resolving for data issues, identify gaps and develop tools/ training materials for training of community resource persons & data champions to capture high-quality SHG Data in digital formats.
    2. Work with community resource persons on a campaign basis to ensure this data is captured on a timely basis and meets data modelling requirements.
  1. Collaborating with bank stakeholders to:
    1. Assess current lending processes & how they assess SHG women applications for individual loans; and how SHG alternate data can enhance this process & improve loans sanction rates.
    2. Work with WWB internal & data science experts to understand data requirements for modelling & credit scoring of this data
    3. Help pilot model prototype with banks to incorporate in lending processes & sanction loans .Capture feedback & insights from pilot to incorporate in operations improvements.

Required Qualifications

 

  1. Multiple Stakeholder Management: Establish relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand & address needs across stakeholders.
  2. Project Management: The consultant will be primary point of contact for project and is expected to manage timelines & deliverables across stakeholders.
  3. Design Thinking: The consultant is expected to conduct assessments, take feedback and capture learnings throughout the project to design & improve the credit scoring model & SHG data ecosystem

Measure of Success

Phase Duration Deliverables: 

 

Diagnosis Sept ‘ 2026 Diagnostic report which includes:

·        Data Quality, Data processes & field training material for Telangana SRLM

·        Lending process & loan assessment criteria for SHG women at chosen Bank.

·        Gaps / opportunity to improve across both

Data Quality & process enhancements at SRLM Oct- Dec ‘2026 Field Execution:

·        Address missing data / low quality data through execution of data capture, process improvements, training refreshers on a campaign basis via SRLM field teams

Insight Report:

·        Review insights / feedback from the data science & bank underwriting teams to enhance field processes

Support Pilot Implementation,  Model refinement & Validation Jan-Jun 2027 Field Execution:

·        Design, Support & Track the credit scoring model field pilot for loan assessment

·        Coordinate the validation the model with 1 more FSP to finalise model & recommendations.

Insight Report

·        Capture insights, feedback and discuss share for model refinement

Close – Insights, Recommendations & Policy Notes Jul-Sep 2027 •        Recommend scale-up pathways

•        Support inputs for convenings / consultations for advocating the model with a larger ecosystem.
