This 10-week virtual leadership program is for Women’s World Banking’s Women in Leadership program alumnae from regulatory agencies and financial service providers who are now serving in senior roles, and other women senior managers looking to enhance their leadership impact. The program will be taught by faculty from Women’s World Banking and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Each week, participants gather for live online sessions such as emotional intelligence, influence and persuasion, mapping power dynamics, motivating teams and leading change. Participating leaders will gain self-awareness of their unique leadership contribution and chart a path forward.

For nearly 20 years, Women’s World Banking has trained leaders from more than 80 countries.  Our courses are not lectures – they are designed to be highly interactive, reflective and positioned so that participants can take what they have learned and begin to apply it in practice immediately. By incorporating a leadership evaluation and peer-group coaching sessions into the program, senior women executives gain a deeply personal view into their leadership voice and build the skills to effectively solve tomorrow’s management challenges and create a blueprint for the future.

Impact:  

More than 75% of women leaders have increased their scope of responsibility within a year after graduating from the program.

92% of women leaders have applied lessons learned from the program to their leadership approach.

Sarah Kleiner Buitoni
Manager & Executive Trainer, Leadership and Diversity Programs, Women’s World Banking

Sarah is responsible for designing and delivering learning solutions that help global financial inclusion leaders better serve women customers and build diverse talent.

Prior to joining Women’s World Banking, Sarah consulted on post-conflict and alternative education initiatives for UNICEF. Sarah holds a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University and a BA in Latin American studies and Spanish from Barnard College.

She is trained in the Co-Active® coaching methodology and certified in the Center for Creative Leadership Benchmarks® 360 Assessment Suite, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI), Neethling Brain Instrument (NBI™) and Inclusive Behaviors Inventory℠(IBI).She is also a certified EQ Practitioner (EQPC).

 

 

Maria Sanchez Smith
Manager & Executive Trainer, Leadership and Diversity Programs, Women’s World Banking

Maria Sanchez-Smith is a Manager and Executive Trainer for Women’s World Banking’s Leadership and Diversity Programs and a Relationship Manager for Latin America and the Caribbean. With over 14 years in the financial inclusion sector, she supports senior executives of financial institutions as they face the demands of an increasingly complex environment.

Prior to joining Women’s World Banking, Maria conducted market research for Arc Finance and the Basel Agency for Sustainable Energy (BASE).

Maria has a double degree from Columbia University in Economics and Latin American Studies. She is trained in the Co-Active® coaching methodology and certified in the Center for Creative Leadership Benchmarks® 360 Assessment Suite, the Myers Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI), the FIRO-B® Assessment, and the Neethling Brain Instrument (NBI™).

 

Jonah Berger
Associate Professor of Marketing, The Wharton School

Jonah Berger is a marketing professor at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a world-renowned expert on word of mouth; social influence; consumer behavior; and how products, ideas, and behaviors catch on. He has published dozens of articles in top‐tier academic journals and teaches Wharton’s highest rated online course, and popular accounts of his work often appear in places like the New York TimesWall Street Journal, and Harvard Business Review.

Professor Berger is the internationally bestselling author of multiple books including Contagious: Why Things Catch On (over half a million copies in print in over 30 languages) and Invisible Influence: The Hidden Forces that Shape Behavior. Professor Berger often keynotes major conferences and events like SXSW and Cannes Lions and consults for companies like Apple, Google, GE, Coca-Cola, Vanguard, 3M, Kaiser Permanente, and the Gates Foundation.

What is expected of me?

  • Women leaders will be joining one live session per week and spending approximately 5 hours per week on pre-session work, attending the sessions, post-session work, along with ongoing engagement with a leadership coach and in peer-group coaching sessions.

What is a 360 and what do I have to do?

  • The Center for Creative Leadership Benchmarks for Managers 360-degree assessment allows you to gain feedback from direct reports, peers, and supervisors on 16 competencies critical for success, as well as 5 possible career derailers. You will have two 1:1 sessions with a trained executive coach to review your results and create an action plan to accelerate your leadership growth. You will need to give your raters 2-3 weeks to complete the evaluation.

Will I receive a certificate?

  • Upon successful completion of the program, each participating leader will receive a certificate of completion from Women’s World Banking and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania

How do I apply?

  • Step 1: Fill out the application form. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis but must be received by August 31st.   
  • Step 2: Applicants who are accepted receive notification with instructions on the onboarding process and invoice. The onboarding process will also include instructions to complete a 360 evaluation prior to the start of the program.
  • Step 3: Program begins on September 20.
