Women’s World Banking is actively engaged in providing policy advisory services to promote financial inclusion and economic empowerment for the nearly 1 billion women excluded from the formal financial system. This case study highlights our collaboration with the Central Bank of Egypt and the National Bank of Rwanda, supported by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), to close the gender gap in financial services.
In 2024, we partnered with both institutions to conduct in-depth market research, host workshops that brought together regulators and financial services providers, and develop practical guidance to embed gender-inclusive approaches in regulatory frameworks.
These efforts helped strengthen the link between policy, product design, and regulation—laying the foundation for more inclusive financial ecosystems.
