Position Summary
A key component of our work is leveraging data to drive insights that inform gender-responsive financial policies and products. To support this effort, we seek to engage a data science / analytics service provider (firm) with expertise in financial sector analytics, particularly in gender-disaggregated data analysis and creation of credit scoring models. The selected firm will be engaged on a retainer basis to support our work in analyzing financial data to uncover gender biases, identify gaps, and generate actionable insights and credit scoring models that can accelerate women's financial inclusion. The firm will also support in quantitative analysis of market research data to generate insights and evidence that can be used in our thought leadership activities.
Roles and Responsibilities
The selected data science / analytics service provider (firm) will be expected to undertake the following key tasks:
- Gender Disaggregated Data Analysis
- Identify gender disparities in financial access, usage, and performance metrics across different financial products and services.
- Analyze credit and other financial data to assess whether inherent biases exist in lending and other financial services provided to women.
- Capacity Building & Advisory Support
- Develop frameworks and tools to assist financial institutions in integrating gender-focused analytics into their operations.
- Provide technical support to financial service providers in tracking, analyzing, and leveraging gender-disaggregated data.
- Insights & Recommendations
- Develop detailed reports and dashboards with insights on gender-specific financial trends using modern tools like Power BI
- Offer strategic recommendations on how financial institutions can enhance their products and policies to be more inclusive of women.
- Development of Gender-Smart Credit Scoring Models
- Design and implement gender-smart credit scoring models.
- Support financial service providers in adopting AI-driven credit assessment tools that reduce biases against women.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Knowledge Sharing
- Support workshops, training sessions, and knowledge-sharing initiatives to promote best practices in gender-disaggregated data analytics.
- Collaborate with regulators and policymakers to provide evidence-based recommendations on financial inclusion policies.
- Quantitative Analysis of Market Research Data
- Conduct quantitative analysis of market research data to generate insights and evidence that can be used in our thought leadership activities.
- Identify key market trends, challenges, and opportunities that inform policy recommendations and financial product design.
Required Qualifications
Interested firms should demonstrate the following qualifications:
- Proven experience in data analytics, particularly in financial services.
- Expertise in handling large financial datasets, including credit and transaction data.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct gender-focused financial analysis.
- Experience working with financial service providers, regulatory bodies, and development organizations.
- Strong proficiency in data analytics tools such as Python, R, SQL, Power BI, or Tableau.
- Capacity to develop dashboards and visualization tools for data-driven decision-making.
- Ability to deliver clear, actionable insights and recommendations based on data analysis.
- Strong understanding of financial inclusion, particularly gender-specific financial barriers.
- Experience or knowledge in AI and Machine Learning will be a definite advantage.
Measure of Success
Proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Technical Expertise (30%) – Depth of experience in financial data analytics and gender-focused analysis.
- Approach & Methodology (25%) – Clarity, feasibility, and innovation of the proposed approach.
- Past Experience & References (25%) – Proven track record in similar projects.
- Cost Effectiveness (20%) – Competitive pricing and value for money.

Interested firms are invited to submit a proposal that includes:
- Technical Proposal
- Overview of the firm’s expertise and relevant experience.
- Approach and methodology for conducting gender-disaggregated data analytics.
- Work plan with key deliverables and timelines.
- Financial Proposal
- Detailed budget breakdown, including personnel costs, tools, and other expenses.
- Team Composition
- Profiles of key team members, including relevant experience and qualifications.
- Past Experience
- Examples of similar projects undertaken, preferably in financial inclusion or gender-focused analytics.
- References
- Contact details of at least two past clients for whom similar work has been performed.
