Position Summary

Summary

Women’s World Banking is looking for experienced design strategists and researcher, with backgrounds in human-centered design/design thinking, to support our Advisory work in either one of our Southeast Asia regions (Cambodia, Indonesia, and/or Vietnam). As we expand our work with financial service providers in the region, we are looking for experienced designers with specific skills to support our market and customer research, design workshops/sprints, and with our overall solution delivery and implementation.

 

About the Project

Women’s World Banking aims to provide a wide array of inclusive financial products and services for our financial service provider partners that address the needs and challenges of their low-income women customers. With a gender-lens and women-centered approach to our solution and product design, we help our partners see the value of investing in their women customers.

Using our women-centered design process, we help our financial services partners design and deliver solutions by helping them 1) better understand their low-income women customers behaviors and barriers; 2) identify key business opportunities to drive access and engagement with their women customers; and 3) deliver insights-driven products and services that create impact for both the business and customers.

Roles and Responsibilities

General:

  • Lead/support the project team in using design-thinking, human-centered design methods and strategies to develop product-service solutions
  • Lead/support the project team through various activities, which includes, but is not limited to: market and customer research, research analysis, ideation, prototyping, user-testing, and solution implementation
  • Collaborate closely with the project team via hybrid working model (remote online and in-person) to deliver project milestones
  • Travel into the field to lead/support project team with various activities (i.e. customer research, ideation, and user testing)
  • Vietnam-specific (in addition to the above):
  • Conduct market and landscape research on financial services and financial inclusion (specifically related to low-income women)
  • Liaise and be the key person on-the-ground to communicate and coordinate with financial services provider partners and stakeholders

Duration of Consultancy

Individuals selected will be our retainer consultants and engaged on specific needs across project(s), each advisory projects span over the course of 6-16 months.

Location of Work

Work is on a hybrid model, where the ideal candidate lives/resides in the country of the project (Cambodia, Indonesia, and/or Vietnam) and is able to travel to the field, when needed, with the project team to complete various activities.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have knowledge and experience working in the financial services industry, international development, and/or social innovation
  • Have a background and experience in human-centered design, design thinking, and/or design strategy
  • Have experience with developing and implementing design research methods and tools for customer research
  • Have experience conducting design workshops/sprints
  • Have analytical skills to synthesize qualitative data into actionable insights
  • Must be able to communicate clearly in English (spoken and written)
  • Must be able to speak the local language of the target market(s) in which the consultant will be based and work
  • Preference for individuals who have experience using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.)
