Financial exclusion high among African women

Despite the growth of the financial services sector in many African countries, financial exclusion remains high and even higher among African women.

According to Nigeria’s Central Bank Governor, 64.8 million Nigerians representing 46.3 per cent of the adult population are excluded from financial and other banking services in the
country. However in the last two years, the Apex Bank has stepped up efforts to close the huge exclusion gap through a number of policies particularly targeted
at women.
