Building Human Resources Capacity: Developing Competencies for Microfinance Institutions

This report shares several years of Women’s World Banking’s hands-on experience and lessons learned in the use of competency-based human resource systems and creates awareness among microfinance institutions of the importance of building organizational capability.

The report will help microfinance institutions introduce a competency-based human resources system to building organizational capability in a systematic and integrated way. It describes the process by which competency models are developed, highlighting key decision points in each step, and illustrates ways in which competency models can be applied in different areas of human resource management.
