Women’s World Banking is powered by a passionate group of professionals committed to the economic empowerment of women around the world. The Development Operations team supports Women’s World Banking’s Development efforts by managing and optimizing processes to increase funding revenue. This includes grant proposals, donor communications, donor reporting and stewardship, prospect research, database management and analytics, and individual fundraising (gifts <$10K). Members of this team work closely with donor relationship managers and cross-functional colleagues, and interface regularly with the Chief Development Officer and other senior leaders. In addition, they also interact with board members, donors, and partners. Outcomes for the Development Operations team are tied to the organization’s fundraising goals, and include growing unrestricted revenue, producing best in class donor communications, and identifying and qualifying prospective donors and funding opportunities.

About the position

Women’s World Banking is seeking an exceptional writer, with a commitment to the highest level of professionalism and communication, to join the Development Operations team. This vital member of the team will be primarily responsible for donor reporting, proposal writing, and other fundraising activities. With a strongly committed and successful person in the position, it is envisioned that over time, and based on the needs of the team, this role could grow to include added responsibilities in the area of development.

You will be responsible for the following priority areas and associated tasks:

  • Provide detailed reports to funders and the board of directors with respect to the organization’s progress, in the context of global issues of women’s economic empowerment and financial inclusion
  • Research, gather input, and write compelling grant proposals and concept notes that appeal to bi/multi-lateral, corporate, and foundation funders
  • Identify and develop strategies to optimize the grant reporting and proposal development processes
  • Manage, track and support grant reporting requirements and the organization
  • Maintain and contribute to organization’s content library
  • Keep relevant staff informed about upcoming deadlines and deliverables, thereby ensuring smooth completion of work responsibilities
  • Support the Development & Partner Engagement Team with donor engagement and fundraising activities and events as needed, including:
    • Prospect research
    • Support logistics for donor engagement and stewardship: donor-related events, communications and other engagements as needed
    • Support the preparation of other donor communications (i.e. donor email campaigns, presentations, event invitations, collateral)

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and two to four years of professional experience, preferably in Development / fundraising.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Outstanding abilities to prioritize, analyze, synthesize, organize and effectively manage multiple competing tasks with excellent attention to details and follow-through.
  • Knowledge CRM (i.e., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce).
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality presentation materials; possess advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong relationship interpersonal skills; capacity to work effectively in teams and in diverse settings.
  • Possess a high degree of self-initiative and resourcefulness; able to work independently as well as collaboratively; able to trouble shoot and solve problems.
  • International experience and/or orientation.


Within the first 75 days:

  • Train on and fully integrate the use of Women’s World Banking systems, including Salesforce and policies into your day-to-day activities
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Women’s World Banking’s donors and their respective reporting requirements
  • Develop a road map to achieving targets and deliverables for the year
  • Review, and suggest process improvements for donor reporting an proposal development
