Women’s World Banking is powered by a passionate group of professionals committed to the economic empowerment of women around the world. The Development Operations team, led by the Director of Development Operations, supports Women’s World Banking’s Development efforts by managing and optimizing processes to increase funding revenue. This includes grant proposals, donor communications, donor reporting and stewardship, prospect research, database management and analytics, and annual giving. Members of this team work closely with donor relationship managers and cross-functional colleagues, and interface regularly with the Chief Development Officer and other senior leaders. In addition, they also interact with board members, donors, and partners. Outcomes for the Development Operations team are tied to the organization’s fundraising goals, and include growing unrestricted revenue, producing best in class donor communications, and identifying and qualifying prospective donors and funding opportunities.

Women’s World Banking is seeking an experienced development / communications professional to lead annual giving (direct mail, in-kind donations, workplace giving, digital fundraising, event sponsorship, etc.) strategies that direct individual and unrestricted funding to the organization in support of our target to impact the lives of 100 million women by 2027.

The Donor Engagement Specialist position requires strong verbal and writing ability and a deep understanding of digital communications, marketing, fundraising, and project management. You will work with Development and Communications teams to grow unrestricted support for the organization through event sponsorships, annual giving campaigns and use of digital channels, building a strategy to raise $1M+ annually from these channels. You will analyze fundraising results, as well as identify opportunities to engage potential donors in effective and innovative fundraising strategies. With a strongly committed and successful person in the position, it is envisioned that over time, and based on the needs of the team, this role could grow to include added responsibilities in the area of grant writing, donor reporting, and other areas of donor engagement and development. Responsibilities:

  • Establish long-term goals and objectives to strategize annual campaign and other unrestricted fundraising efforts
  • Create and test data-driven donor acquisition and growth strategies and supporter journeys aimed at increasing individual donor retention
  • Work cross-departmentally to coordinate messaging and storytelling (email messages, social media posts, websites) with an aim to provide an exceptional donor experience that results in increased engagement and donations
  • Monitor and optimize gift processing systems and donation pages and troubleshoot potential tech issues
  • Create and monitor reports on all key KPIs. Prepare reports to share with wider Development and leadership teams.
  • Write email fundraising appeals. Test copy, subject lines, signers and other aspects of email content to drive response.
  • In collaboration with the communications team, mine social media and email activity to learn more about donor behavior, affinity, and communication preferences.
  • Ensure proper donor recognition and stewardship.
  • In collaboration with the communications and development team, (co)manage global and regional event sponsorship strategy and execution.
  • In partnership with the development team, secure individual, corporation, foundation participation and sponsorship as related to global and regional events.
  • Develop strategies for event sponsor acquisition and growth.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business/international relations discipline (master’s degree preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • Proven track record in fundraising and minimum of 5 years’ experience in digital fundraising, communication and/or marketing with specific experience in financial inclusion preferred
  • Excellent writing skills (please provide three writing samples)
  • Strong strategic thinking, data analysis, and experience implementing data-informed decisions.
  • Experience using A/B testing in advocacy, fundraising and/or marketing capacity
  • Experience in developing and executing social media fundraising strategy
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal, organization, problem-solving, planning and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong CRM experience (preferably Salesforce)
  • Strong marketing automation experience (Pardot)
  • Ability to work collaboratively and interact effectively with people of other cultures, abilities and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to speak eloquently to a wide variety of audiences about Women’s World Banking’s work
  • Ability to deal with stress, high pressure and tight deadlines
  • Familiarity with design theory, relational databases, video production, and broadcast email platforms is a plus
