Women’s World Banking

Women’s World Banking is the global non-profit devoted to giving more low-income women access to the financial tools and resources essential to their security and prosperity. For more than 35 years we have worked with financial institutions to show them the benefit of investing in women as clients, and as leaders. We equip these institutions to meet women’s needs through authoritative market research, leadership training, sustainable financial products and consumer education. With headquarters in New York, Women’s World Banking works with 39 institutions in 28 countries with a reach of 14 million women to create access to finance on a greater scale than ever before. These institutions form the Women’s World Banking network.


This internship is with the Office of the President, working directly with the President & CEO.

Rationale or Purpose of the Assignment

The intern will assist in the support of a number of projects generated by the CEO.  It will include work with donors, general communications and research.

Scope of Work and Responsibilities

The intern will work directly with the CEO on a range of topics to enable the growth in outreach to various stakeholders.  Assignments during the internship period may include:

  • Conducting general research for CEO projects including the G20 summit and the Clinton Global Initiative
  • Conducting research related to a forthcoming book proposal
  • Reviewing materials sent to the CEO in her capacity as Director on an NGO Board and as a member of the ISIS Fund investment committee
  • Responding to donor communication/ requests/invitations
  • Responding to general inquiries directed to the CEO
  • Proofreading/editing various documents

Estimated Timetable and Terms

The position is available from May – September, 2014. This is a part-time, unpaid position.

Monitoring During the Assignment

The intern will report directly to the CEO who will supervise all activities.

Resources and Support During the Assignment

This will be an office-based internship.  The intern will have access to all relevant resources during the term of the assignment.


The intern will be evaluated by the CEO at the end of the assignment.

Candidate Profile

Strong candidates will have completed a Bachelor’s Degree and have completed some coursework at the Master’s level in an international relations, finance or communications field.  Skills include:

  • 0-1 years of experience working for a senior level manager
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, and up for the challenge of a constantly changing environment
  • A passion for women’s empowerment
  • Proficiency in Word Office Suite (Word, Excel) and social media
  • Must be outgoing and service-oriented
  • Outstanding abilities to prioritize, analyze, synthesize and organize
