Women’s World Banking is providing technical assistance to a bank in Kenya to increase access to financial services for the SME sector with a focus on reaching women. Women’s World Banking will be conducting a research study on this topic in Nairobi from April 6-15, 2016. Women’s World Banking requires assistance with participant recruitment for focus groups. The research will take place in Nairobi.

Objectives and Responsibilities
The Consultant will be procured to recruit research participants for 2-3 focus groups per the research criteria set forth by Women’s World Banking. Each focus group should consist of 7 confirmed participants. The participants in the research will be entrepreneurs with small and medium enterprises in Kenya who may be segmented based on criteria such as: age, gender, urban/rural, income levels, business type and profile.

To fulfill the said objectives, the Consultant will be responsible for leading the following tasks:

  • Participant Recruitment:
    • Identify potential participants that meet specific criteria for each focus group
    • Contact potential participants to request participation and confirm match with necessary criteria. If accepted, inform participant of date and time of the event he/she is recruited for.
    • Confirm the date and time with each participant the day or two days before his/her scheduled day of participation as well as re-confirm the recruited participant matches the criteria.
  • Participant Transportation:
    • Provide transportation to and from research venue for participants; or, where applicable reimburse participants for their transportation
  • Be present at focus groups sites to ensure logistics of participant arrival and confirm criteria as well as facilitate financial compensation.
  • The Consultant will not be responsible for facilitation, data organization or analysis of the research findings.

Extensive experience in recruiting participants for qualitative research is required. Preference will be given to applicants with expertise working with low-income segments.
