Women’s World Banking is seeking applications from qualified consultants to provide data analysis. The consultant will perform institutional and client-level data analytics to support product design, marketing strategy and gender analysis projects. This includes several types of analytical projects, including segmentation, statistical (including descriptive and predictive analysis) and geographic analysis.

About the Project
Women’s World Banking works with different types of financial service providers across several industries and geographic regions to develop solutions as well as market strategies that deepen the financial inclusion of low-income customers (particularly women). As part of this contract, the selected consultant will work with a multi-disciplinary team from Women’s World Banking on data analysis for a variety of their projects.

Objectives & Responsibilities
The selected consultant will be responsible for analyzing individual-level transaction data provided by partner financial service organizations; specifically focusing on gender, including:

  1. Behavioral segmentation analysis: As we work with partner financial institutions to understand client needs, and develop innovative products tailored to low-income women, deeper analysis of client segments and behavioural patterns regarding account transactions, savings and other bank product uptake.
  2. Statistical analysis: Beyond basic segmentation, analysis of correlations and causations between client behaviour and product performance will inform product design, delivery channels, and marketing strategy.

Datasets tend to be large (up to 10 million clients) and complex (longitudinal, multiples types of accounts and many variables). This type of analysis will enable us to provide additional insight on client needs and behaviours to develop strategies and solutions for our partners

Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Cleaning and testing data for accuracy and reliability
  • Understanding how data is currently captured & structured at client end
  • Coordinate with the client data teams to extract useful & accurate data
  • Combined various data sets across functions.
  • Conducting detailed descriptive and statistical analysis of the data
  • Help develop ongoing data analysis systems at the client end to ensure capacity building

In addition the consultant will develop monitoring & evaluation dashboards to track the data success variables identified for the project.

Duration of Consultancy
Consultant will be engaged through an on-call retainer contract 12 months with a start date in August 2019, which may be extended at Women’s World Banking’s discretion. They will be needed on multiple short-term & long term projects simultaneously.

Location of Work
The consultant should be based in either Delhi/ Mumbai or Chennai.  The consultant will be required to travel to pilot sites frequently during the course of the project.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-6 years’ experience in econometrics and data analysis, particularly in the field of finance, international development or statistics;
  • Experience in financial inclusion or retail banking highly desirable;
  • Advanced Degree in Econometrics, Statistics, Information Technology or other research-related field required;
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, writing, and problem-solving skills required;
  • STATA/SAS/SPSS/R experience and previous work with large datasets, statistical analysis with large, complicated (beyond administrative, clean datasets);
  • Statistical analysis experience, specifically in longitudinal data;
  • Querying experience using large datasets and various databases;
  • Experience working with longitudinal data
