***UPDATED SUBMISSION DATE: December 20, 2021***

Summary

Women’s World Banking is seeking a PR agency of record to support two important areas of work – thought leadership; and strategic communications. Key responsibilities include a) ensuring that Women’s economic empowerment remains high on the global agenda by promoting Women’s World Banking’s Executive Leadership, insights and research, and b) supporting the establishment and growth of a new Digital Financial Inclusion Hub, designed as a focal point for broader industry efforts in financial inclusion, with strategic communications, including messaging, narratives, and identifying and executing on pre-agreed “key moments” in the annual calendar.

The selected partner will demonstrate a successful track record that reflects both remits, specifically developing strategic messaging, driving engagement with tier one media relations and global events, developing compelling campaigns that drive action with measurable results, and advising and securing thought leadership opportunities. The agency will work closely with the Director of Marketing & Communications for the executive profile work and the Global Head of the Digital Financial Inclusion resource.

About Women’s World Banking

About the Projects

Women’s World Banking Executive Visibility for Senior Leadership Team

As governments around the world consider economic recovery strategies in the wake of COVID-19, arming more than a billion women with the tools they need to be active economic participants is increasingly vital to sustained growth. Indeed, building back better and fairer societies through women’s equal participation in the economy is both a moral and economic imperative, and there has never been a better time to do so than now. It is paramount that governments, regulators, financial service providers and fundraisers view women’s financial inclusion as the gateway to women’s empowerment. However, there are many other priorities among these stakeholder groups that threaten to sideline the issues around women’s financial inclusion.

Communications plays a central role in this aim. The agency partner will further enhance the profile of Women’s World Banking and maintain a high focus on women’s digital financial inclusion and gender parity among key audiences and stakeholders.

We want to formalize and create process around our Executive profile efforts, including participation and visibility through relevant events, and media opportunities in intentional targeted manner.

Agency responsibilities will include working closely with the in-house Communications and Marketing Team (as well as Executive Vice President, Global Advocacy and other business leads) to:

  • Identify high-level global speaking opportunities for the CEO, Chief Investment Officer and other senior leadership at various global events (keynotes, panel participation, etc.).
  • Identify tier one reporters from global outlets as well as industry trades, manage media relations and secure interviews and coverage. Prepare briefing materials, backgrounders and messaging tools. .
  • Identify byline opportunities and secure op-ed and article placement in targeted publications globally.
  • Provide recommendations to develop key messaging and relevant narratives to be repurposed across the organization in the form of briefings, messaging platforms and presentations.
  • Provide detailed reporting on a regular basis according to defined and achieved metrics.

Women’s World Banking – Digital Financial Inclusion Coalition

There are many organizations and initiatives committed to women’s digital financial inclusion; however, there is not a singular organizational structure that aligns and coordinates these efforts, most importantly at the local level to provide greater voice to women’s digital financial inclusion. Women’s World Banking, in collaboration with its strategic partners has been tasked to create and manage a coordinating network of advocacy organizations who have a role in women’s economic empowerment to unify efforts, connect and scale initiatives and amplify voices at both the supranational and national level.

This Coalition, built from a diverse group of local and global organizations, will work together to support activations for women’s digital financial inclusion. These actions may include changes in regulatory environments, or prioritizing women’s digital financial inclusion for investments and policies at the local or global level.

The Coalition’s vision is to unleash the power of gender-inclusive financial ecosystems that lead to greater financial security, prosperity and economic empowerment of women. The Coalition’s vision is executed by the “Hub” – focused on 4 key actions: Connect, Inform, Invest, and Scale. The Hub:

  • Connect partners, campaigns, and resources;
  • Inform stakeholders of action-oriented global and country insights;
  • Invest in building and developing capacity in-country; and
  • Scale efforts by amplifying in-country and global voices.

To execute on these 4 key areas, the PR agency will work with the team to design global advocacy campaigns tied in with key moments throughout the year. The targets for the advocacy campaigns include the greater financial inclusion ecosystem including government ministries, regulatory bodies, financial service providers, bilateral/multilateral organizations, and civil society. The work for the agency will encompass:

  • Identifying key events/moments to draw attention to WDFI
  • Designing and executing campaigns that will resonate with key audiences and drive results; creating an annual calendar of campaigns
  • Drafting byline content to be co-authored by coalition members
  • Securing speaking engagements for coalition members at top tier events
  • Supporting event-related activities such as workshops, webinars, and conferences

These two projects are distinct but related and so we are looking to drive efficiencies with our agency partners that satisfy both project needs.
