Women’s World Banking is looking for an Advisory Specialist on Rural India. We are seeking a forward thinking, cross-functional, high-performing, collaborative team member focused on delivering innovative customer experiences and banking services & products that serve low-income women in Rural India.


S/He will use data, customer context, and business intelligence to build customer-centric products & delivery channels that solve business problems. The ideal candidate must have experience in working with a variety of financial delivery channels in rural India.  S/He must be a strategic thinker with the ability to see the big picture and propose new ideas for ways of engaging the target audience through innovative partnerships and solutions.



  • Develop a strong understanding of the financial inclusion context in rural India
  • Basis the existing context of initiatives & stakeholders and combined with own experience-  identify further opportunities to contribute to women’s financial inclusion through working directly with Financial Service providers (Public Sector Banks, Banking Correspondent channels, MFI, FPOs, SHG Groups etc.)
  • With the help of Customer, Data & Market insights, develop solutions that can increase women’s financial inclusion through these partner organisations
  • Lead a cross-functional team to understand business and customer needs, continually enhance project processes, service offering and delivery for partners
  • Manage the project, stakeholders and team independently to ensure timely delivery of milestones


Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in financial services industry or in development sector in financial inclusion
  • 6+ years of experience of working in Rural India
  • 3+ years of experience in a Managerial role.
  • Excellent project management, stakeholder management and team management skills are required
  • Must be willing to travel extensively within India and other developing countries; and
  • Fluency in English, a must.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Candidates having successful track record of designing, developing and/or supporting implementation of financial inclusion initiatives in rural areas with exposure to NRLM/SRLM programmes are preferred.
  • Candidates should also have experience in working with rural distribution channels & aggregators.
  • Ability to present fact-based recommendations in a clear, logical and concise way to tell a story with the data;
  • Demonstrated ability to execute and successfully achieve objectives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with aggressive timelines;
  • Proven collaborative, negotiation, and persuasion skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently; and ability to work with remote teams.
