Women’s World Banking is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual to act as a Senior Advisory Specialist in support of Women’s World Banking’s strategic goal of advancing women’s financial inclusion across a number of advisory and network engagement projects in our priority markets. The individual will lead a number of advisory services and network engagement projects and initiatives, partnering with financial services providers to design solutions and deliver financial inclusion outcomes for women customers.

The position is for a forward thinking individual who will be working across functions with high-performing, collaborative teams focused on delivering innovative customer experiences, banking services, and products that create business and customer value to serve low-income women.

The ideal candidate has experience across banking and financial services products and services development (savings, loans, digital, insurance, fintech, etc.), as well as strong project management, business development, sales and relationship management skills.

Top candidates will also have expertise in financial inclusion and must be a strategic thinker with the ability to see the big picture and propose new ideas for ways of engaging financial services providers.

The position is a short-term role for approximately 5 months starting in May, 2021, with the potential to convert into a staff position in the future.



Lead the development and execution of high-priority business initiatives in line with the organization’s overall strategy. The individual will be engaged in several key aspects of our work with financial services providers including:

  • Advisory services to financial services providers:
    • Oversee and deliver on a number of advisory services projects in Nigeria and other priority markets, in collaboration with team members
    • Lead project management including the development, delivery and monitoring of work plans, milestones, targets, budgets, and both internal and external reporting
    • Provide expert advisory support on projects in our advisory services portfolio, including strategic advice on product design, partner management and project implementation
    • Deepen relationships with existing financial services partners and build new relationships and alliances
  • Network services to financial services providers:
    • Oversee and deliver network engagement initiatives including product development and consulting services to financial services providers
    • Bring in technical expertise to support key conversations with financial services providers
    • Develop and package content for network engagement events, such as conferences and webinars


  • MBA or Master’s degree in related field preferred
  • 10+ years of product experience in financial services industry, digital financial services or telecom
  • Experience working with financial services partners in an advisory or consulting capacity;
  • Demonstrated focus on financial inclusion in past professional positions; experience in women’s financial inclusion is a bonus
  • Excellent stakeholder, relationship management and people skills with demonstrated capabilities in engaging and influencing senior stakeholders using collaboration, negotiation and persuasion skills
  • Demonstrated ability to execute and successfully achieve objectives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with aggressive timelines
  • Self-starter and independent thinker with a strong drive and sense of urgency
  • Strong team player, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with remote teams
  • High-level analytical skills with ability to isolate problems, articulate them, implement solutions, synthesize data and information balanced by intellectual curiosity and creative solution-seeking
  • Strong communication skills including meeting management, written output, and presentations
  • Strong project management skills and familiarity with project management tools
  • Experience with and a level of comfort in working across departments
  • Aptitude for a fast paced, results-oriented work environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project and Outlook required
