Women’s World Banking partners with financial institutions and policymakers in developing countries to design inclusive financial services and policies that create greater economic stability and prosperity for women, their families, and their communities.

The Development & Strategic Partnerships team helps drive this mission by securing financial resources to meet the needs of the organization. The team, led by the Chief Development Officer, includes eight staff in three focus areas: Donor Engagement & Development Operations, Bi- and Multi-Lateral Partnerships, and Corporation/Foundation Partnerships.  Members of the team collaborate closely with each other and with cross-functional colleagues, and interface regularly with the CDO and other senior leaders.

Women’s World Banking would like the assistance of an intern to support the activities of the Development Team, with a focus on prospecting, research, data entry and database “’cleanup”, organization of Development files on Box, and additional development team activities as needed. The opportunity is unpaid. For internships, either academic credit or a stipend from your learning institution or another third party is a requisite. If neither are available, we can proceed in a volunteer capacity. The opportunity is for Summer of 2024, starting in May and ending in August (exact dates are flexible based on candidate availability).

Roles and Responsibilities

The Intern will be responsible for activities including, but not limited to:

  • Update research on funding mechanisms, cycles and donor strategies of key individual, corporate, foundation, bi- and multilateral prospects
  • Researching prospective funding/partnership opportunities for unrestricted support as well as Women’s World Banking project areas including advisory services, research, policy advocacy (including leadership and diversity for regulators);
  • Researching and preparing briefings on current and prospective donors;
  • Assisting in maintaining the database (Salesforce), including creating and updating constituent records, performing data integrity checks and capturing historical data;
  • Researching and presenting on Women’s World Banking performance against trends in non-profit industry as needed;
  • Reorganization of documents and resources in Box;
  • Creation of and updating project templates in Hive;
  • Assisting with planning and execution of events, as needed;
  • Other projects as necessary

Resources and support during the assignment           

The Intern will interact with the Development & Partner Engagement team. The Intern will have access to the full suite of Women’s World Banking information resources with on-the-job training on use of Women’s World Banking databases and information. The Intern will be given a shared space at Women’s World Banking headquarters in New York City.

Evaluation

The Development team will offer an evaluation of and feedback on the intern’s performance at the end of the assignment for professional development purposes.

Required Qualifications

Candidate profile

  • Working towards a related undergraduate/graduate degree
  • Demonstrated interest in international development and gender equity
  • Professional and responsible demeanor
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Strong research skills
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Interest in learning the details of development and fundraising
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Database experience is a plus; Salesforce experience preferred
  • Creativity and initiative are appreciated
