Position Summary

Women’s World Banking is seeking a highly motivated and experienced marketing and communications professional to lead our engagement efforts with key stakeholders on external platforms and conferences and oversee planning for own key events. Working closely with the Director of Brand, Marketing & Communications (BMC) the successful candidate will develop, and in collaboration with the team, execute communication strategies that drive engagement, enhance brand visibility and position the organization as a thought leader. You will be working closely with the development team who engages with key partners & donors, the global advocacy and client services teams in the regions.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the strategic engagement and event plan to cultivate relationships with global and regional business leaders, decision-makers, and influencers across the public and private sector from think tanks to industry associations.
  • Design and lead the implementation of communications strategies that connect and integrate all marcomms activities across the organization to ensure consistent messaging and brand alignment across all communications channels.
  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of key global and regional events, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to align engagement activities with strategic objectives and priorities.
  • Identify opportunities for partnership and collaboration that enhance brand visibility and drive business growth.
  • Cultivate relationships with media partners and serve as a media liaison, proactively pitching stories and maximizing opportunities in the media.
  • Work closely with the content and digital marketing teams to profile the organization’s work, milestones and achievements, by developing and implementing activities that contribute to a well-defined media presence of our senior executives and experts.
  • Serve as an advisor to the Director of Brand, Marketing and Communications, providing strategic counsel and support in the delivery of the integrated strategy.
  • Deepen audience understanding to ensure targeted and effective engagement and communications activities across the organization.
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures and best practices to better govern and coordinate across teams with streamlined engagement and communications processes.
  • Critically evaluate and in close collaboration with the team report on the success of the engagement & communications activities and make recommendations to enhance future performance.
  • Develop and maintain an informed awareness of relevant projects and contribute to the management of the integrated marcomms and editorial calendar.
  • In collaboration with the team monitor media coverages and industry trends to identify opportunities and risks, providing strategic guidance and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Stay informed about engagement strategies and communications trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to enhance engagement and reach.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years professional experience of strategic engagement and relationship building in marketing & communications including PR and event management.
  • Proven track record in developing and executing successful engagement and event strategies.
  • Demonstrated communications and media relations experience, ideally within financial services, and with a network in media to draw from
  • Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and a keen understanding of how marketing & communications can support and advance organizational objectives.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarize, contextualize and synthesize large amounts of information while highlighting the essence of an issue.
  • Strong collaborator who is comfortable with ambiguity and finding solutions in an inclusive manner.
  • Skilled and experienced in leading and motivating people in a cross-functional environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with strong project management skills, managing multiple priorities and deadlines while delivering high-quality output across a variety of subject matter.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to present information in a diplomatic, concise and compelling manner.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with little supervision as part of a high-functioning team.
  • Demonstrates operational excellence and a commitment to detail, while maintaining an understanding of the complexities surrounding collaboration and internal alignment in a global/regional matrix and remote organization.
  • Proficient in using Salesforce, project management tools (e.g. Hive) and all Office applications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in event planning and execution.
  • Experience in content/copy editing and proofreading.
  • Experience in harnessing digital marcomms and social media.
  • Working knowledge of content management systems
  • Leading and managing external agencies, consultants etc.

Measure of Success

Within the first 75  days

  • Demonstrate your command of the position;
  • Develop a solid understanding of Women’s World Banking’s strategy, the context in which we operate and the key stakeholders we engage with;
  • Build a strong working relationship with the Brand Marketing and Communications team as well as across the functional teams;
  • Familiarize yourself with the brand strategy and gain a solid working understanding of the marcomms plans for Women’s World Banking
  • Drive the further development of the engagement strategy and further it’s impact be nurturing existing and establishing new partnerships

  • Get trained on and fully integrate the use of Women’s World Banking systems and policies into your day-to-day activities.
